A group of women journalists have launched a new book consisting of 50 stories that give personal accounts of their life and work as journalists.

Published by Forum Jurnalis Perempuan Indonesia (FJPI, Indonesian Women Journalists Forum), the book, Jurnalis Perempuan Meliput Indonesia: 50 Kisali di Balik Berita (Female Journalists Covering Indonesia: 50 Stories Behind the News), was launched Friday, 8 February 2019, at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Surabaya, capital city of East Java. The launch coincided with the commemoration of the National Press Day of Indonesia, which is celebrated annually on February 9.

Fifty women journalists, all of whom are members of FJPI, contributed to the book, which was edited by Uni Lubis, chairperson of FJPI and editor in chief of IDN Times, and Maria D. Andriana, editor at Antara News Agency.

The Indonesia Press Council supported the publication of the FJPI book along with nine other titles by other press groups in the country. These were similarly launched during the commemorative event in Surabaya, this year’s host of the National Press Day. (seapa.org)
